Kiva.org today raised its ONE MILLIONTH DOLLAR for the developing world.

This marks a major milestone for the organization, and demonstrates that real change can be created by average individuals who want to make a difference.

Kiva.org today announced its latest African Field Partner, Hluvuku (Hluvuku-Adsema Fundo de Credito Male yeru) in Mozambique.

Hluvuko's mission is to improve the socio-economic conditions of the population in the Matutuine district and contiguous areas, providing sustainable services to low income people, considering the viability of the initiatives.

The Matutuine district has a very low population density, of approx. 6.5 inhabitants per square kilometer, and was severely affected by the civil war. It also has a high incidence of the HIV/AIDS virus...
