When we talk about the best ways to alleviate poverty in developing countries, we often bring up issues around education, clean energy, healthcare, savings and more. One of our favorite data visualization sites, the World Bank Tumblr recently posted this fascinating infographic about global internet use.

The visualization skews a world map to demonstrate both the number of internet users per country as well as the percentage of the population with access to internet.

Industry wide it’s no secret that mobile devices will represent a significant portion of computer usage in the near future. Even today nearly 9% of Kiva’s traffic comes from smartphones, and we’ve seen these numbers grow steadily year over year.
