Just one year ago the Kiva staff (there were fewer of us then!) were gathered in our one-room office in an old warehouse-turned-office-space in the Mission District of San Francisco. Some of us were in Halloween costumes, all of us were excited for a big day in Kiva history.

One year ago today Frontline/WORLD first aired the program "Uganda: A Little Goes A Long Way" on PBS. Kiva.org was today announced a winner of the World Summit Award 2007 for the category "e-Business".

The World Summit Award Grand Jury 2007 met on the island of Brijuni from September 1-7 bringing together eminent multimedia and e-Content experts from 32 countries. The W.K. The first nine loans to Iraqi entrepreneurs have been posted to Kiva.org, and were all funded within hours! The Kiva Field Partner in Iraq has told us how excited they were to see the loans funded so quickly, and how encouraging it is for them to see the public showing such support for these small business owners.

Tonight's Frontline/World program will rebroadcast the documentary "Uganda: A Little Goes A Long Way", which tells the story of Kiva.org and features Kiva Lenders and Entrepreneurs in San Francisco and Uganda.
