We noticed, following some recent stories in the press about philanthropy and Kiva, that some Kiva Lenders may have incorrect assumptions and some misunderstandings about Kiva.
In the spirit of clarity, we want to state a few facts:
1. The borrowers listed on Kiva are real people.
Over 267,000 people have received a loan through Kiva. These are real people, and their picture, name and location are listed with their loan request (when privacy considerations permit). In many cases these people are in remote places, and much... Continue Reading >>

One word you’ll constantly hear around the Kiva office is “efficiency.” It’s a key theme at Kiva because the more efficient we can be, the more loans can get funded on the website, and the more we can achieve our social mission.
We’re going to try an experiment in the coming weeks: we’ll be allowing some loan requests to be posted to the website without an English translation.
How does this help Kiva be more efficient?...

More loans from Nor Horizon will be up on the site very soon, keep checking back on the site!
To tell you a little bit about Nor Horizon, the organization was originally founded by OXFAM Great Britain. The organization's mission is to provide high-quality business development services to enterprising individuals and... Continue Reading >>

Can you change lives while changing the way you do laundry? It sounds odd at first. What does laundry have to do with Kiva? We asked ourselves the same question. But when we found that some of Purex’s employees were avid Kiva lenders and that they wanted to find a way to let people discover Kiva and make a difference by connecting their Purex purchase with Purex loans to mom entrepreneurs, we thought it would be an interesting experiment in small actions that can add up to big impact.
When you purchase a package of the new Purex® Complete 3-in-1™ Laundry Sheets you can... Continue Reading >>
