Microlending in the U.S. you say?
The United States is one of the most unequal countries in the world with regard to income. The statistics are staggering: America’s top 10% of income make 4/5 of the total income earned in the U.S. That leaves 90% of the population to split the rest. A little background: Kiva loan requests are posted for a maximum of 30 days. If they're not funded within that timeframe, the loan expires and the Field Partner does not receive the funds for that particular loan. The majority of loans on Kiva are pre-disbursed by the Field Partner to the borrower, so an expiring loan does not necessarily mean... Continue Reading >>
Last night, we hosted an open house for Kiva Zip borrowers, trustees and lenders. It was incredible to watch powerful online connections transform into an equally strong offline community. United in our passion for microfinance and entrepreneurship, it's remarkable how quickly we bonded and discovered even more common ground.
