Interns are essential to Kiva’s operations and achieving its mission of connecting people through lending to alleviate poverty. There are a wide range of positions in a variety of departments, where interns work closely with staff on important, high-impact projects in a very educational and social work environment. This is no "fetching coffee and making copies" kind of internship!
Weekly brownbag lunches allow interns to hear from all different Kiva departments and get a better understanding of Kiva’s operations. There are also opportunities for cofee breaks with Kiva's CEO and President. Not to mention, Kiva's very social work culture makes coming to work fun! One past intern said, "Interning with Kiva was like finding a second family. Though hard working and driven, the Kiva office is also one of the most welcoming environments I have been honored to be a part of. Even if I had not learned practical skills and insights into my own reason for working the field, I still would have gained much from the friendships I gained."
The Kiva internship program offers training and workshops to help interns launch careers in a variety of fields after they leave our office. Past Kiva interns have gone on to work for companies such as Fair Trade USA, Salesforce, Google, Patagonia, One Acre Fund, Deloitte, Room to Read, and Square on the strength of their Kiva internship experience.
