Congratulations to the first Kiva Lenders to loan to Iraq!The first nine loans to Iraqi entrepreneurs have been posted to Kiva.org, and were all funded within hours! We are incredibly saddened to receive news of the passing of Jedidah Waigwa (pictured above with Matt Flannery, September 2006) on Saturday, April 28th. Jedidah passed away after having a heart attack.As Executive Director of Women's Economic Empowerment Consort (WEEC), Jedidah was instrumental to establishing Kiva.org's partnership with WEEC - our first Kenyan Field Partner - in early 2006. If you you haven't already heard of them, Agents of Change are a Canadian non-profit cycling 2,000 miles from Vancouver, Canada to Tijuana, Mexico to raise money for Mexican entrepreneurs on Kiva.org. Currently there are 25 riders participating in the complete ride, with a support group of dozens.Agents of Change will be holding events as they pass through Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
