The annual AIDS/LifeCycle starts in just a few days! You may remember that a group of Kiva staff, interns and lenders participated as "Team Kiva" in 2010.
This year, you can participate too! On Monday, June 6th, the second day of the ride, Team Kiva Bike will be wearing green Kiva Jerseys. If you are willing to have your picture posted on the Kiva blog, find someone with a green Kiva jersey, take a picture with them, and receive a green ribbon!!! If you happen to be a cyclist in the event, please join the team by wearing green and say hello at the rest stops.
Anyone that loves Kiva is a part of Team Kiva Bike!!
At Kiva, we know that chronic illness can be a major cause of poverty. While the ride supports programs in California, we believe we can also drive attention to HIV/AIDS in the countries where we lend. You may not realize that Kiva Field Partners are already supporting people living with HIV/AIDS. This information is not shared on borrower profiles in order to protect the privacy of those affected.
According to the AIDS/LifeCycle website, "AIDS/LifeCycle is a fully supported, 7-day bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, June 5-11, 2011. It’s a life-changing ride—not a race—through some of California’s most beautiful countryside. AIDS/LifeCycle is co-produced by the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and is designed to advance their shared interest to end the pandemic and human suffering caused by AIDS."
Anyone in the Los Angeles area can also join Team Kiva in the Closing Ceremony to celebrate the end of the AIDS/LifeCycle 10 journey!
If you can't make it to the race to take a picture with Team Kiva, you can still support the team by joining the Kiva Bike Lending Team or buying a Kiva cycling jersey online.
We are excited to see Team Kiva Bike supporters throughout the journey!
