Kiva App for Windows Phone 7

August 16, 2010

The following post comes from Rodrigue Hajjar, a Kiva lender and student from France who has designed a smartphone application based on Kiva. Check out this story and watch the video here. If you “Like” it on Facebook, it will count as a vote for him and a chance for him to meet the CEO Microsoft and present the project to him!

After being introduced to Kiva by a friend – and being amazed at how even a student on a tight budget could have a positive effect on someone – Rodrigue realized that he wasn’t always able to keep up with emails about Kiva on his cell phone.

He became interested in designing a Kiva app for the Windows Phone 7 with the intention of giving users all of the functionality of Kiva’s website but on a cell phone. The user could subscribe to categories of loans they’re interested in, learn about specific Kiva entrepreneurs, measure the impact of their lending, and even make a loan, right from their cell phone!

Now, Rodrigue wants to share this application with other developers and exchange ideas on how to make microlending and Kiva a daily routine on a cell phone. The application will be free of cost and stay true to Rodrigue’s saying of “helping making a change on your free time.”
