Born and raised in Westchester County, NY, which my NYC friends refer to as “Upstate”, you may be surprised to hear I’d never been on a farm before. Fortunately, Kiva Zip gave me the chance to change that with a two-day farm tour. I hop into a Zip car in downtown Manhattan, with a dream and my farm-friendly boots. I have some good news and some bad news...
 
Bad news first? My output of sweat has not decreased even though I have now been in the Philippines for more than a week. The humidity of the Negros Islands continues to feel like 100%. But, I really can't complain because without this tropical weather, I wouldn't have the beautiful landscapes to see or film.
 
The good news? I am starting to get a handle on the learning curve of my new equipment. The camera is starting to feel like an extension of my arm...

I'm a vegetarian. However, there are occasionally times when I relent and consume meat, especially if it's offered and refusal means either going hungry or—worse—being rude. Even this reluctant acceptance of the occasional meaty meal has its limits, though.

I will not eat pork. It's not a religious thing for me, nor is it a question of taste; I think bacon tastes fantastic and is a wondrous smell in the morning, particularly maple-cured smoked bacon, eagerly sizzling in the pan as the coffee brews.
